My little boy makes me so damn proud..

This morning I had to stop at the convenient store before dropping DS off at school. The lot was pretty full so we parked along the side of the building near the dumpster, and if I had seen this mean I wouldn't have parked there, but when we got out my son waved good morning to an elderly man sitting on the ground next to the dumpster with a lot of blankets and who had clearly not showered in at least a week or so. He waves back but I felt very uneasy about the man. We wen inside and I gave DS 5 dollars to pick out snacks for the weekend because he had done so well with chores this week, he's 5, 6 next week. Well while we were inside he liked out a large hot cocoa and a breakfast sandwich from the prepared foods, unusual but it's his money, so whatever. Well, we get back out to the car and he goes and gives them to man next to the dumpster, all I could do was panic that he was approaching a homeless, potentially dangerous man and i yelled to him to get away. Like an smurf. All the man did was say thank you and ask for a high five. He was clearly surprised by this gift and appreciated it, very much. My son just said youre welcome, good bye and jumped in his carseat to head to school like it was no big deal.
He amazes me, and I hope the world doesn't jade him like it has me and he keeps his generous heart forever. God, he makes me so proud, he's just such a good person. Proud mommy moment to live for.
