It is sad that people didn't figure it out until after the election. I have the option next year of permanently changing the country I live in and am now considering it. I don't want this stuff to happen to anyone, but if it does, I don't want to be around.

Some people can't afford private insurance (or are denied because of pre-existing conditions), but make too much to qualify for Medicare. Obamacare makes it so that everyone is insured and that these private insurance companies will STOP disqualifying people because of a pre-existing condition.

The people who are so against Obamacare forget that at one point Medicare received a HELL of a backlash, but now it is so ingrained in society. They also forget the millions that are without ANY medical coverage and the millions that were DENIED private insurance because of previous illnesses or did NOT qualify for Medicare because they made too much. What of them?

Actually, that first paragraph is wholly incorrect. Do you understand what the ACA does? It DOES NOT provide insurance. It FINES you if you don't buy it. So, the people that can't afford insurance and don't qualify for assistance are even more SCREWED.

That would be heartbreaking to have to decide to do that and have to pick your other kids over the other.

Regarding your comments on this practice being ok - if a patent or a family determine that they don't want intervention, that is one issue. If the GOVERNMENT is determining that, it is entirely different.

As a mother of a NICU baby I couldn't get through that. I saw my daughter hAve seizures after seizures. And grow very little.

That's not exactly true since the ACA expands Medicaid coverage so more people will qualify.

It's under negotiation now. The fiscal cliff problems might prevent them from expanding coverage.

Yeah that's true, but theoretically coverage was supposed to be expanded. Not saying that I agree or disagree, I really don't know at this point.

So, they MUST NOT decline you for insurance with a "pre-existing" condition, right? They must offer insurance. Okay. Is there a limit to how much they can charge for that policy?

Say you cannot afford the policy. You are accepted, but can't afford it, so you get government care, right? What is "affordable", in that case? Are you left to make your own healthcare decisions if the government is footing the bill?

Will you be able to find a Dr. to treat you? There is already a shortage of specialized medicine Dr.'s and they are predicting a mass shortage of general practioners.

If ANYONE is deemed "unworthy" of care, you get denied care. It's that simple.

Those supporting this health care bill are thinking ONLY of themselves because, when you look at the big picture, it's terrible for just about everyone and benefits only a few.
