5 month old with a cough

The past couple of days my DS has had a cough and gets green goopy stuff that fuses his eyes shut. I have been using a warm washclosh to keep his eyes clean (there is no red), but I am worried about his cough getting worse. I really notice it at night and it constantly wakes him up. Other than that, he doesnt have a fever, runny or stuffy nose or anything! Should I hold out for a few more days or call his doc?
