re: OMG GONNA PUNCH BOYFRIEND IN FACE!

posted 30th Nov

Your child's brain is very undeveloped at this stage of his growth. His gestures are not a conscious of "Good" or "Bad", he does not grasp "Right" "wrong". He is however, testing actions and reactions. Your reaction when he does something like spit food. He tests it again to see if you react that way again. Your reaction was unexpected, thus funny to him. It is not out of a sinister plan of his.

Taylor is almost 1 and responds WELL to the word "no" in a firm voice, and has since roughly 8 months.... But that's a learning process and I wouldn't use physical reinforcement on a BABY. That's wrong, and low. She does things all the time to push her limits because she's a baby.

I notice saying no to him usually startles my kid lately... Is that normal? I dunno if it's the actual word or the tone that it's said in since I don't use it with most other words, you know? Like the other day he was messing with something and when I saw it I said 'Felix, NO' Made him jump a little and he backed off. I can't really be firm with him when he's climbing on me because honestly, I kind of find it amusing and so it's pointless to me. lol

And yeah, I agree... physical reinforcement seems so mean to me, especially so young. ): This chick sounds like she's got some anger issues going on or something. I don't know. She seems pretty immature. :/

Seems like the way you say it. I say it low and stern. Calmly.
She never jumps from it. She looks at me, and leaves whatever she isn't supposed to be doing. :-)

I know parenging can be frustrating. Being a mom isnt always fun. But theyre sooo worth it. Him spitting food is something he finds funny and no at 8m he doesnt do it on purpose. I know he can seem as though he is out to make your life harder but he really isn't you just get overwhelmed and it can seem this way. I would never slap him   i think you should search attachment parenting and work on your bond with him. I personally could never hurt my child mentally/emotionally let alone physically.
