I talked to DH about it, and we are going to. But we are going to wait a bit till after DS is born. Same breed, everything, but different coat color, and name of course. I adore that bread so much. I used to 'babysit' for a breeder of dachshunds she always had 11 of them in her house. So much fun (:

Cool.
My mum used to have a dachshund but it attacked me as a baby because she was already the number one girl lol. So good idea on waiting till your son is born.

Hey ladies!

I have a question! Remi has been constantly chewing on the area on his back just before his tail(rump?) and his tail so bad that he's losing the hair there and is now forming scabs. It started about 3 weeks or so ago, almost a month after we got him. My first thought was he was allergic to fleas amd since we had had him a month he was due for his flea treatment. So I gave him a dose of Frontline and gave him a bath. Didn't help. He's still chewing and licking at the area and the hair loss has become worse. There is no evidence of any type of sores or skin issue. I really don't want to have to take him to the vet if it can be avoided.

Do any of you have any tips or ideas on what it could be?

My pup, Huga..

He's a 10-month old pitbull/terrier mix. We've had him for a few months now and he's calmed down a LOT since we've gotten him but lately I've been having issues with him jumping on people when they walk through the door (it embarrasses me that people are afraid to come through my door because of him) and digging holes in my backyard. Well.. they're more like ditches.. they're like a foot deep at least and he's digging a new one almost every day. It's so frustrating! My backyard is torn up and I really don't have the time or patience to go outside with him EVERY TIME I let him out to make sure he's not digging anything (plus it's freezing outside here). I dunno how to get him to stop.

He's gorgeous!!!

Not sure about the jumping issue, but the digging is probably due to boredom. Maybe try giving more attention, going on more/longer daily walks, some new toys(something that'll keep him occupied like a Kong or rawhide type), or maybe even another companion to play with?

Thank you.
And sometimes my fiance' will go outside with him to keep him from not digging (he's a smoker so he'll go outside and smoke while he lets the dog out), but we don't like to let him outside with his bones (which we buy a lot of because he's still a pup and a chewer) because he's like one of those typical dogs you hear about.. he actually buries his bones lol (I had never actually seen a dog do this until we got him). A new companion is out of the picture for now because I'm 23 weeks pregnant and just him here has been frustrating me, especially all the cleaning (we have hardwood floors so I sweep up fur CONSTANTLY). I'll try taking him on more walks.. it's just been so cold here! lol But I'll try.

I would do more research to see what other causes for digging are. Those may not be your only options! Just my semi-educated guess lol we had three Shelties and they dug up almost our entire back yard because they would get bored. We got them toys and started spending more time with them and it stopped.   Just do some research and/or talk to some trainers and you should eventually come up with a solution that works for you! Good luck!

Hi ladies, mind if I join in on the thread? I always liked dogs but didn't start loving them until my husband and I got our Molly girl. My name is Ashley and I have a 3 year old female tricolor beagle named Molly.   My husband and I adopted Molly from the Michigan Humane Society when she was six months old.
This is Molly:

Thanks! I really think he just has too much energy and doesn't know what to do with it. Me being pregnant, I can only play with him so much, but my fiance' will literally wrestle with him every day and try to wear him out but he's still got so much energy lol. My fiance' takes melatonin at night to sleep and my pup once ate a pill that he dropped, we freaked out and searched online to see if it could cause any damage but everywhere we looked said melatonin is okay for a dog because it's natural, so every once in a while we give him one (surprisingly, he eats them like they're candy lol).

Awww lol well he is still a pup so that could just be why he's so hyper and he digs to release energy? Either way I hope you can get it figured out!

I had the same problem with my dog Lady. I could never figure it out. We always gave her flea baths along with her flea protect stuff. But the next day we would find more and more spots of fleas. Her poor tail at the tip looked naked (not only biting there and her rear, but also licking her paws or licking the bed she laid on). ): The only thing the vet said about it when we brought her in for her check ups was that we just that we needed to treat her for fleas.

So not only treat your dog, but treat your house and front&backyard as well.
