Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis

I am not currently TTC, but I figured this would be the best place for this topic. Does anyone have experience with PGD? Why did you have it done? What was it like? Was it successful? I'd like to hear your stories. I am looking into it for when I one day do decide to have another child.

I did not because it costs so much and we were already paying out of pocket. Are you going to do IVF just to do PGD?

I decided against it because our insurance doesn't cover it and we don't have any known conditions in the family. We also already have a healthy son.
I am 35 years old and my RE said the risk of downs at this point is only slightly increased.

Do you have any family history that makes you want to do it?

I am thinking about IVF only to do PGD, because my after my son was diagnosed with cancer I learned any male children I have in the future have a 50% chance of having the same cancer.

That's an excellent reason to do PGD. Will your insurance cover it?

I don't have insurance currently, but I doubt it. That's part of the reason I'm asking about it now. I don't plan on having any more kids for another 5 - 6 years. Gives me time to save!
