I'm confused, car seat nazis?

I just ordered a The first Years Via car seat and I'm reading the manual online. It says you can only use car seat accessories from The First Years, JJ Cole, and the Learning Curve. But then it says not to attach any toys, padding, or other items to the car seat. What do they accessories by the three companies are acceptable, and what aren't?

They've probably safety tested them with the seat. Probably subsidiaries of their own company.

So if I were to get, say, a JJ Cole Bundle Me, that would be safe?

My guess would be to make their companies a little more money.. could be wrong but that's my best guess.. like you buy an iPod and they make you buy songs through apple.

No no no no no.... Bundle me is BAAAD. NOTHING can go between baby and the seat or them and the belts.

Well, I know using aftermarket accessories on any car seat is a no-no because they haven't been tested together. I'm assuming that they just test all of their accessories on their products so they know they are safe.

Best rule of thumb is if it didn't come in the box with the seat do NOT use it?

That's what I figured, but it is just confusing wording. Like "you can use these things, but you can't".

Lol I got to thinking and just edited my post with pretty much what u said about the whole testing thing :p.. the only thing I have for my daughters carseat is a cozycover that keeps the wind and cold.off her since she will be born in winter time.
