My daughter got them put in last year. Its an outpatient procedure..it took about 45 mins, a little longer because she also got her adenoids removed. They stay in for up to a year and generally fall out on their own, if not the ENT will take them out and replace them if needed. They definitely helped my daughter. Good luck!

Had them put in 3 times. The 3rd time I had them put in I also had adenoids, tonsils removed. No they do not hurt at all. They can cause a little scar tissue. Mine fell out by themselves after 6 months to year is when they fall out. I was born deaf due to the fluid build up in my ears. But after having tubes in my ears I the fluid went down alot and I was able to hear alot better each time I got them. The only down side to my case is because of having them 3 times my left ear drum clamped due to the scar tissue in it.
