What do you think of this name for a girl? I was reading a story for my engl class because I have a literary analysis paper due soon and it was the main characters name. It was based in the late 1800s and if I'm not mistaking they're in France or England...Oh yeah how is it pronounced? I say it Math-i-lide (I think that's how I write that out lol).

I believe it is pronounced ma-tilled and I love it. I love bygone names though. I have a Lenore and a Charlotte

I would say it Ma-til-da, or maybe that's a different name all together, I think I like it.

Isn't it like Matilda without the a?

Matilda is how i would pronounce it. I love it.

It reminds me of Matilda lol like the movie. When I see it I think of it as sounding like ma-tild

It's so old lol. I have absolutely no idea how to say it. I seen it in a short story called The Necklace.

I think its okay other than people will pronounce it MATH-eld....

Wut? lol. That would be horrible. It's Ma teeld (matilda without the a) or like Matilda.

Haha, that pronunciation (Math-ill-ide) reminds me of thalidomide.

It's like ma- tild. It's French. My daughter is Matilda which is the same name but the Germanic form.

I say it mah-teald. I like it, but its rather popular here. I prefer Matilda to be honest
