PP bleeding question

I had my daughter 5 weeks ago. She'll be 6 weeks on Monday, to be exact. I had a c-section with her. After the first day to day and a half, I didn't have much bleeding. It was so little, I would have been fine going with a normal panty liner, but because of my c-section, I was having to slide off the bed at the hospital, and it would slide around. When I got home, I switched to a normal panty liner, and would never fill it, it was more like spotting. I was also breastfeeding. I quit bleeding about 2 weeks pp, and if I did bleed, it was just a few spots. I had a little bit of discharge, but not much.

I had my first pp period last week. I started my birth control last week, also. 2 days ago, I started having discharge again. It looked a whole lot like my mucus plug did. Yesterday, the discharge became stringy and was brown. Today, it turned bright red, and I started bleeding again. I've been having a lot of intense cramping.

Is it normal to start bleeding and losing a lot of discharge like this at almost 6 weeks pp?
