Letting it out...

posted 29th Nov
This is the only place where I can say things to people that have been in the same situation. I am 19 days late and have had my levels tested twice. Monday my hcg levels were 67, Wednesday hcg was 87, but progesterone was only 2.5. I have not been able to talk to my regular ob, just her nurse. I had a mc last November, and she had said that she would put me on progesterone as soon as I got pregnant the next time, I had also taken it for 3 weeks before the mc. Her nurse never said anything about coming in, just to get my blood drawn. My doctor was always busy, so I had to talk to the nurse, who said she talked to my Dr. After the second level test she said to go again in 48 hours to have it rechecked, the progesterone level was not in, but she did not say that when I talked to her Wednesday. I called back this morning asking about the results because they close at noon Fridays and I had to wait until 12:30 to get my blood drawn..

The nurse first said that I would have to call first thing Monday for the results. I asked about taking progesterone like the doctor talked about last time and she said she would have to talk to the doctor and call me back. When she called back she said that she looked in my file and saw that the progesterone had finally came back and it was only 2.5 and they don't consider that a viable pregnancy WHAT, why would anyone say that to someone. She said that a 5 or more is considered viable and I should start to mc this week sometime, to call if I haven't started bleeding by this time next week.

I decided to call the local ob and went to speak with him. My blood work had been done at the hospital he worked in so he had access to the results. He said while they were low, it doesn't necessarily mean I will mc, but the chances are high. He explained many things dealing with levels and mc and said that if whoever I decide to keep as a doctor should do some testing being as this would be the 2nd mc. I found him to be very helpful. He said to still get my levels tested tomorrow and to have them call him with he results even though he won't be in the office, which surprised me. He also took his phone out and made a note or something, not sure what, but put my number with it. I known will likely mc, just wanted to let it all out with people that may have been there. Sorry for such a long post... I forgot to mention that the ob I went to today said that progesterone levels are not always important.

I'm so sorry

Maybe a miracle will happen. I'd be changing OB's if yours is so busy. My understanding of choosing someone specific to be your healthcare practitioner is that they make you feel comfortable and you actually get to deal with them, not some nurse who does all of their running around. I like this other guy. He seems very attentive! Someone like that would be able to catch this before it happened and help you.

I plan on finding a new ob, and he may be the one just not sure. My sister had his colleague and I really liked her. I liked my ob until after my mc, then I never really talked to her or saw her just her nurses. I did like the way he treated me and said things that my ob had never even mentioned.

My everything is crossed for you! I hope that in approximately 8 months you can walk into your OB's office with a baby and go "this wasn't viable huh?!"

Thanks.... Those were my exact thoughts. Lol he said to have them checked again next week and if they are still rising to schedule an exam to be checked. He said I could take the suppositories if I wanted to, but in his opinion they did not help anything, only prolong the levels if it were going to fail. I chose not to get them in case that was the reason for it going so long last time or even failing.

it looks like you have low progesterone. You should be using vaginal suppositories 3 days after ovulation to help sustain a pregnancy until 12 weeks. Talk to your doctor about it.

I lost my first pregnancy due to low progesterone. With my second I started bleeding at 5 weeks. Got checked and they realized I had low progesterone levels. I would put on progesterone right away and he is now a super healthy 3 year old. I would for sure take it!!!

It's started.... Guess my regular ob was right.... Taking the suppositories would not have prevented it, I took them last time as well.

My ob said progesterone has little to nothing to do with a miscarriage. If it's going to happen it will. Nothing they can do to prevent it. I am sorry for your loss. Hopefully your ob will get you in sooner next time and realize you need more attention from her than a nurse can provide.

Sooo frustrating.... I went to get my levels checked today to make sure they were going back down and found out they are still going up...? I know you can't bleed, cramp, and maintain a healthy pregnancy.??

How bad is the bleeding?? Cramping yes. I hurt all day long and doc said it's normal but if I start spotting he says to go to the ER. How high is your hcg and progesterone?

The bleeding isn't heavy, I have changed twice today and wasn't more than right where it would come out. Mostly brown discharge. My progesterone was at 2.5 Wednesday, not sure about now. Hcg was 197 Friday and in the 300s today, don't remember the exact number. I am supposed to get it checked again in 48 hours. The levels are too low, I would have to be further along, at least 7 weeks.

I spot almost every day. Barely anything at all. If you're seven weeks it would be way in the thousands. So maybe you miscarried and now again are pregnant. Just focus on the rising levels.
