What to pack when going to the hospital?

posted 1st Jun
This is my first pregnancy and I don't know what to pack. I don't want to over pack or forget something. I know I will need a nightgown and something to wear when I go home, also pads and other neccessities. The baby will need an outfit, diapers and carseat. And My boyfriend well maybe a night gown and an outfit? PLEASE tell me what else I should take. THANX!

Believe it pr not they will provide most of the stuff, including diapers [[or at least my hospital did]]...

The things i needed that they didnt provide was things like makeup, hairbrush, hairties, deodorant, toothbrush [[they had one but it was a cheap crappy one]]... stuff like that. Otherwise i think you got the basics down!

Honestly you don't need to pack much. I barely used anything in my hospital bag when I had my son. Basically I would take clothes for you and baby, and toiletries. The hospital provides you w/ pads, diapers, that kinda thing. Oh, and of course the carseat which you already know. lol.

I never got to pack a bag.. I was in the process of it and got distracted.. then went into labor early the next morning. Pack nursing pads just in case also. My milk came in the last day I was in the hospital.. of course I had a c-section so I had to stay for a few days. Snacks is also a GREAT thing to pack... hospital food sucks and your probably going to want some yummy snacks! Pretty much pack as if you were going out of town for a couple of days.

I pack a diaper bag for the baby the same way I would if the baby was born: 4-5 diapers, baby wipes, 2-3 outfits, receiving blanket or 2, a bib, can of formula and a cpl of bottles. For me, I make sure I have at least 2 pair of undies, 1 bra, comfy jammies, personal toiletries like deoderant, shampoo and stuff and something comfy to wear home. Also, phone charger, camera, battery charger (or extra batteries) film or extra memory card and of course my purse... I would suggest trying to make sure you have some cash on you, bc hospital food CAN suck, but usually the cafeterias aren't too bad IMO. Much easier than carrying snacks... Or you can send new daddy to the closest fast food place.
