I agree to a point but the mother in this scenario obviously had an influence over her daugher's violent behavior. She was so supportive of her daughter's assault on another person, ibthink it's safe to say she's been in fights herself and probably bragged about it to her child.
I don't let my kids watch violent tv shows/movies or play violent games, but they have been exposed to them on occasion out side of my control. I think the fact that as a family we don't support violent behavior, at all, as had more of an influence on my children's behavior than what they see outside our home.

I agree with you about the mom in this case, too.

My own children are pretty supervised and limited in what they watch. But we do allow them occasionally watch x-men cartoons, spiderman and batman.

That reminds me of growing up, most of my friends parents were this way... letting us drink, and have boys over, driving girls to fight... so so sad. I will never allow my children to believe violence is acceptable.

I can't stand loser parents. My cousin's mom is like that with her kids. Her and her 2 daughters will go on laughing about how they're going to smurf up someone for pissing them off. Or one time they were on Facebook together making fun of a girl still in high school about her weight.
