Bipolar .. Hospital??

When do you know it's time to go to the hospital for some help??

I'm not suicidal or going to harm anyone but I've been in bed for three days, my mind won't leave me a lone and I'm really high strung. I feel like my heart is going to pop out of my chest.

My doctor told me to stop taking the Meds I've been on for months and start a new type on Monday. I'm loosing my mind I feel like.

Did you just stop cold turkey?! Hopefully he had you wean off of them.

I would go honestly especially if you stopped cold turkey. That's not something to mess with. There are times I know I should have went in but didn't.

You are supposed to wean off, not just go off completely..

anddddd, i went only when i was suicidal. and it sucked. being in a psych center is harder than being at home, IMO.

No stopping cold turkey. Call your doctor. Really the hospital wont be able to help you unless you are suicidal or hallucinating

Yep being in a psych center is worse than being home. I am going to do anything possible to never be in one again

Cold turkey .. It was making me lose a ton of weight and I couldn't sleep. I was going to switch to lithium but he said the two Meds could cause a reaction. So I completely stopped them and he gave me anti anxiety Meds (I started seein this psychiatrist about five months ago)

I've been in the ward three times.

There, I met a woman who was bipolar. She was there BECAUSE her meds were being switched.

With someone as serious as bipolar disorder, it is best to do it in a safe and guarded facility.

there was one older lady when i was there that they had to give her shots and knock her out. she would go insane and like scream and carry on, spit at people... and she wouldn't sleep in a bed, she slept in the hall in a recliner. she was so creepy, i just wanted to go home and not deal with that.

Jesus like I just want to be normal and function effectively in society.

Oh that's no bueno...you are probably having withdrawals   I can't believe they would tell you to just stop. As far as going to the hospital that's up to you...not gonna lie some of them treat you like smu*f.

My fear of having you go to the hospital is this:

I went because I was having suicidal thoughts. No attempt but thoughts. I hallucinate all the time even with meds. This was my third time but the other times were 7'months prior. I went to get help. They switched me to involuntary, I stayed in that hospital for 45 days and transferred to the state facility for another four and a half months. I tried checking myself out when in the first facility. This is when they strapped me with an involuntary hold.

They shouldn't have stopped you cold turkey. Call your psych.

Yep there were so many different ladies that did that through my stay.

And I understand that but just be warned it isn't a day in the park to be in the hospital.

I remember when I went in after trying to OD and they weren't very kind.. I just can't function right now and it's not good. I'm sure you all know what I mean. My mind won't stop. All I keep thinking about is Monday Monday Monday.. It'll be better then.
