I feel that the fact that you don't have strong feelings for him as your father, may be a sign that you subconsciously know that he did something to you. Either way, if he's not that important to you, I would cut ties with him because your daughter and any other future children are what's important and you need to protect them. There's no room for benefit of the doubt when it comes to your own babies, IMO.

Have you thought about counselling, to deal with your emotions about the situation, possible even trigger memories?

Does it give you a golden ticket to get away with it? Definitely not. So I understand what you're saying about people using it as an excuse... but it actually does make you very likely to continue that cycle of abuse, especially if you never dealt with it emotionally or never come to terms with the fact that it's wrong and not normal.

I'm sorry that must be so unbelievably overwhelming to hear and deal with. Especially with all the smurf you already deal with :/ at this point you can either dwell on it, or take it as it is and move on and grow from you it you know?
