Hurt Ankle - Go to Doctor's?

posted 29th Nov
At what point would you go to a walk-in clinic to take a look at your hurt ankle?

Keep in mind, it is free but time consuming  .

I went over on my ankle Tuesday night while playing volleyball and have been considering going to get it checked out. I sprain my ankle every couple of years but this one seems worse then any I can remember. I'm waiting until tomorrow to make the decision, I'm just curious what others would do in my position.

How bad would it have to be for you to get it checked out?

I would wrap it, ice it, elevate it, do all the typically things and if it was still swelling or not starting to show improvement after a week I would go in.

It depends on if I could walk on it. Or if it was swelling.

I haven't wrapped it, but I have been icing and elevating it. It is easier to walk on now (though painful most of the time), I did do a lot of crawling for the night time parenting the last two nights  .

A week sound reasonable.

Unfortunately, it is my right ankle and I can't drive, so I'm having to rely on others to help get my daughter to school  . My husband took a day off and my dad is available but I still feel bad about it.

It's quite swollen but I have been able to walk on it today (very slowly and it hurts almost all the time). It is bruised too, and I don't remember that happening with my mild sprains in the past.

Sometimes ankles do that. Sprains take alot longer than breaks to heal

That's what I figured. I don't think it's fractured but I can't help but worry a little  .

Thanks everyone  . You've put my mind at ease, at least for a little while  .
