I would do all of the normal, house, car, college funds etc. I huge chunk of my money would go to starting an animal sancuary.

no jackpot winners here but there were 4 $1 million winners in massachusetts.

i know first off i would have loved to buy a house though and definitely put a chunk of it into a savings for cameron

Lump sum. Just easier having it all at once

Pay off dad's house and bills
Build a house for my grandpa and sisters
Build a house for mom and her two littles
Build a house for other bro and sister
Buy a ton of property and build us a house in the middle of no where
New car (mini cooper countryman)
Set up savings for all kids in the family (college, wedding, car)
And invest some. Rest will be squirrel funded.

If we won a 500 million lotto...First would be to get an adviser and lawyer because we don't want to be publicized with 2 kids under 2. Don't want them kidnapped  

Well we would pay off our bills and buy a house and furnish it. Nothing extravagant but comfortable. Then we would pay off our parent's homes, my grandparents and set up accounts for the kids for college and what not when they are older. Probably donate for tax write off purposes but not sure to what since there is nothing we are super passionate about. After that, just live comfortably and not let the kids know until they know how hard it is to earn a dollar (16 or when ever they get their first job, don't want them to get money and blow it all!). DH may still work but just for fun in something he wants to do so the kids have that role model that work=money.

I'd buy or build my dream house. New cars for me and Dh. Set up accounts for each of the kids and any future kids we may or my not have. Furnish my new house. Pay off our debts. Pay off my parents debts. Move my dad up by me. And let Dh give however much to his parents. Help my sister pay for a house and her wedding. Set my brother up in an apartment. Donate some money to cancer research. Put any left in savings.

Your name would be out there no matter what. There's no way around it. You can say no to a televised interview though. But no matter what, they will announce your name. I believe they say "So & so from town/city & state".

There are only six states that allow you to remain anonymous. Everyone thinks it should be public record :-/

I think the winners should have a choice with it. Honestly, I'm not sure what I would do (if I had the choice). I probably would want to stay anonymous (due to finding my birth mother recently and she is literally a psycho path child molester). I would just let close family know. Maybe the close friends I have and trust.
But then again I would have to discuss it with DH. He would probably want our names out there.

If I won I would pack my bags and leave before I told anyone.

There was a $1 million winner in Kentucky, too. At least that's what I heard.

I would take it in one lump sum.
Give each family member (close, obviously) a check with x amount of money...haven't decided how much yet. lol
House/land, SUV and truck, college for kids. And I don't know what else...probably a vacation home in Montana or Alaska and take the kids to disney. savings....the norm. lol

You can put it in a trust fund and have your lawyer claim it on your behalf  That way you are not specifically identified. I have done a little research just for fun because California is one of those states where it is public domain. The other option is establish residency in a state where you can stay anonymous before claiming it. I know it will probably never happen since it is like a 1 in 175000000 chance or something along those lines of winning. Still good to know what to do in case we did!
