Dilation Question.

when are doctors suppose to check for dialtion? im 34 weeks and will be 35 weeks on Sunday. i have been having some serious pressure and sharp pains in my vagina and i always wonder if it is cause dialtion or effacement. im a first time mom so im new to this. my doctors tell me they wont check to see if im dialated until im in actual labor. i dont even know how my much my son weighs right now. i basically dont know anything except that im measuring where im suppose to and that his heart rate is perfect.. so can someone help me please cause i dont know much lol

With the 2 previous pregnancies, I wasn't checked til 36 weeks with the 1st baby and 38 weeks with the 2nd one.

My midwife wouldn't check me until 38 weeks [which would be next week.] but we thought my water had broken because my fluid levels went from 11cm to 5cm in 5 days, so she checked me on tuesday during my appointment.

dilation is not an indication of when labor will set in. This is why he won't check you.

I walked into LD at 10 days past my due date. 5cm almost fully effaced and NOT contracting.
