babysitting

posted 29th Nov
So my daughter is a month old now and I am thinking about going back to school soon. I dont exactly want to put her in a daycare yet but I don't have family that can watch her all the time. So I was thinking about asking her fathers family to help out. Her father isn't involved but the last time I talked to his family they said they wanted to be involved. I feel kind of awkward asking them since they don't know me very well. I also don't want to make them feel like they have to babysit or make them feel bad for me and do it out of pity. I figured asking them would be a good way to let them be involved without really having to go through me.

I just don't know how to go about asking.

Do you have any kind of relationship with them? If so I would start by telling them you want to go back to school and then tell them you wanted to give them the first chance to watch your little one while you do. That way it doesn't sound so much like your looking for the help as offering them a chance to bond with the baby.

Just tell them that you are looking for a babysitter and wanted to give them first option since they are family. And tell them if not that is perfectly fine, you were just be considerate to them seeing her

I would just say "hey i decided to go back to school and was wondering if there was anyone that was interested or available to watch LO at that time".

I would just let them know that you're going back to school and that you wanted to give them the opportunity to see her and watch her before you asked someone else.

Hey ____ So I am going to be going back to school soon, just taking a few classes a week.I was wondering if you or your sister or your mom would be interested in helping watch Addison. I figured it would be a good way to keep you all involved with her and I would much rather have family watch her then some random person since I know she would be more loved by family. I don't have an set dates or times yet for school, I am going to try and work it around a schedule that works. So I may do night classes or day classes even weekends (if they have it lol). I know both you and your mom have the babies, so if it doesn't work that is okay i completely understand. I just really would rather her be with family instead of some day care. Thank you let me know =)

There ya go... It says what you want them to know without overwhelming with details..then if they want to ask questions they can and you can answer accordingly.
