Hoping the happy keeps going but I think we will be ok

So I haven't been here in a long while, baby is now 4 months old as of yesterday! I love her to death and her "father" has seen her four times since birth once I had to take her to him and that was only because he had stuff he had been holding for her and woudln't bring it to me. That was early October and now its been another two weeks since I've heard from him and I have to say I can't be happier. All he wanted to talk about everytime he messages me is what I'm wearing if I want to have "fun" and for pictures of ME! Never asked more than how is Liz doing? I reply with alive and he was happy. His family doesn't try to contact me and I left that open told all of them I don't want money, stuff nothing from them just for her to know her family, I didn't take him for child support wouldn't matter anyway he sitll only works part time and isn't trying to get better. He has no ties to her and we both agreed not to go to court don't need it. Its taken four months but I guess the big realization to this whole thing is We are awesome without him. She has me, her grandma and her grandpa who love her more than the world! She's a happy, spoiled smart baby and the other half of her are the ones missing out. I'm doing great in school my job is going well and every night I get to go home and see a smiling face who loves me! I will always keep the door open for her dad and his family but I will not beg them to be a part of her life only to watch her get hurt. I will let her make her own choice how she feels regarding everything until she can do that I will not resort to speaking how I feel anywhere she can hear it.

GOOD FOR YOU!!! I was in a very similar situation with my now 11 year old daughter and it took me a long time to realize we were both better off without him or his family in our lives. Her biological father has not seen her since she was 5 months old. Non of his family has ever even attempted any contact with me or her and I met my husband when she was about 2 years old and as far as we are all concerned he is her daddy. She knows there is another man out there who is her BF but knows that her dad loves her and she is better off with out the sperm donor! Keep your head up and keep pushing forward!

That's great for you! It's a hard thing to swallow at first but I agree, much better off without them if they don't have real genuine interest in their own child. I too am a single mom with help from my parents. Bd's parents have told me they want to be involved, however, they want it on their conditions...that doesn't really work for us.

His sister, and mother both said they wanted to be involved. His sister saw her at birth and his mother two weeks later. neither have seen her since...his sister contacts me asks whens a good time and then never replys his mom avoids me. Their loss not mine! Everybody wants me to drive to them (he lives with his mom an hour away from us) when I take care of her and pay for everything. His sister lives 5 mins away from me...its all good I get her to myself and I love that!
