Shingles

This may not be the answer you're looking for but I had my first case of shingles when I was pregnant with my first child. I ended up having it with my last as well. I had no issues at all with it, my pregnancy or health of my babies.
Congrats!

You should be required by law to be up to date with vaccines for any work in the healthcare field. Even as a student or volunteer you are required to provide proof prior to participation.
You can get shingles during pregnancy, and varicella, so you really should just own up and back out so you don't risk illness. Contracting v during pregnancy can cause a disorder that can involve blindness, mental deficits, and seizures. And yes, you can get varicella from someone with shingles if you are exposed to the active virus. Exposure only occurs if a blister opens an you come into contact with the infectious fluid.
Stay away. Even though it's unlikely you will get sick, do not tempt fate!

I had chickenpox as a child and I've had my boosters, but I'm still non-immune. Thanks for the lecture.
Oh, and it's not required by law.

I know there isn't a law! Somehow I didn't finish a couple of sentences in there. That first one I meant to say is policy at the hospitals in my state, Washington, or Oregon. And I'm sure many others. It's a general policy so that hospitals can avoid major lawsuits!
The other thought I didn't quite finish was on the disorder caused by v- this is what can occur to your baby.
Your baby had not had chx pox, so is not immune.
Ps- kindness will win you more.
Being around shingles/varicella is very scary during pregnancy. I apologize for my concern for your baby.
Confused as to why you would post this thread if you don't really want answers or help though....

I apologize if I came across as rude, but I am up to date on my vaccines. Sometimes vaccines don't work. We all know that. I didn't think pregnant women were supposed to be exposed to varicella at all. That's what this thread was about.

Oh cool! It's so easy to misinterpret what people when you aren't talking in person!
They still made me get my titer because I could not prove that I had contracted the virus as a kid.
If there's no way out, just take extra precaution. Never feel bad for suiting up and wearin the biohazard stuff. I always did that during my pregnancies when I came into contact with people who were contagious.
