I would just stick to your guns. Unless your dr says something like..."fine then you won't have a cervix aoftener at all" or something... But then at that point, not a very good dr. And I THINK it's something the hospital has to provide. You could even say something like you had adverse reaction to it before or something...

See, i don't see the same doctor every week, so maybe next week i can convince them i absolutely do not want to have it used on me. Pitocin scares me enough as is. And this is baby # 1, so that wouldn't work lol

Not through induction but for stomach problems lol.. But you shouldn't have to lie to deny a medication. That's like saying a child HAS to had Ridalin (sp) instead of adderol, and if the mom says no to one or the other, then the child suffers without. There are alternative medications for a reason. They can't deny you that right to deny specific treatments and request for an alternative.

Well, i'll tell them i'm not comfortable with it and refuse it. Can they refuse to see me as a patient because i refused medication?

evening primrose oil works wonders. you can get the caplets at walgreens in the vitamin section. they dont help you dilate but they help you efface. i was instructed to take 1 in morning orally and two at night, one vaginally and one orally. make sure you wear a pad as it will leak out in the night.

You can talk to your OB and say that this med is not something you are comfortable with and you'd like an alternative. Don't give them a chance to try to talk you into it. Drs get butthurt when a pt tells them skmething against what dr is saying. So idk... They can't really discriminate for medication decline, it's basically saying, "oh you know your pt rights? I don't want to treat you."

Yeah the lady today pretty much was trying to talk me into it. Even when i brought up it wasn't FDA approved for induction, she just said that its safe and blah blah blah.

They can advise you to what they think, they can't force you. Tell them no. Tell them to find an alternative medication if cervadil isn't offered.

Cytotec is stomach ulcer medication, and is also used in abortions, though its only approved for ulcers

Oh wow. Yeah I would totally tell them to forget using that crap on you! It doesn't even sound safe whatsoever. And Mercy wasn't too bad. They treated us really good, while we were there. I love it. Now that I'm not there, I'll be having this one at a completely different hospital. Another reason I like Mercy also.. is because they are a Catholic hospital.
