Old wives tales?

So what kinds of old wives tales have most of you heard of I know about the heartburn means full head of hair and somethings you eat can determine gender but are there some interesting stories you'd like to share?

I dont know about the things you eat determining gender but I know at least in my case the one about heartburn means they will have hair is FALSE! I have had two boys and three girls, I had heart burn terribly with all three girls, only one of them had very little hair the other two where bald...like bald bald, no heart burn at all with either boy, and one was bald and one had lots of hair...so I would say (at least in my case) heart burn means girl if anything!

I might have this backwards but I heard if you carry high it's a girl and low for a boy.( low=boy,high=girl?) I don't know. My DF's wife told me I was having a boy before my ultrasound and DS is all boy. I thought I was carrying in the middle lol.

what happened to be right for me

carrying low means boy high for girl
being clumsy means its a boy
girls steal moms beauty boys make her more beautiful
when asked to show your hands palms down means boy palms up means girl

now what wasn't right or idk!
aparently if you pee on a tablespoon of baking soda and it fizzles its a boy if not its a girl
leaky boobs during pregnancy means easy breastfeeding

that's all I can think of off the top of my head haha

and for gender determination. ..the chinese calender was wrong for me!

Sleeping on your back will kill the baby or lifting your arms anove you head will strangle the baby with its umbilical cord

Every one of these were right for me...Also I craved spice with my boys and sweet with my girls no lie!

Whoa! haha glad neither of those are true!! I did sleep on my back up until brith (most of the time by accident) and I am very short so I have to lift my arms over my head pretty much every day just putting the dishes away!

Actually the hair one is pretty valid. High levels of Estrogen cause heartburn....high levels of Estrogen cause hair growth. I had heartburn every day with DD and she had a head full of hair

I would find myself up at 4am eating jalapenos straight out of the jar!! plus I had to have them on everything!

I am pretty stuffed up and i usually wake up with terrible hip pain from laying on my side so laying on my back is the only thig that helps. He kicks normally and is just fine so it doesn't seem to be bothering anything! And im really short too so i have to reach a lot

with my daughter I had major heart burn and she had a TON of hair. and I carried higher than with this one ( boy).
there is the one about the heart rate. but my dd sometimes had a "boy" hear rate and sometimes a "girl" heart rate.

yes they say girls are faster, over 140 and boy are supposed to be under, but my boy was always at 155...

Same...my boy is steady in the 150s

Wow this is a lot of good information, I'm pretty sure mine is going to be semi bald because I'll get heartburn in spurts.
Like the food determining the gender thing I mean I've heard like back in the day a woman whom was in a area of plentiful food (high in fats and carbs etc) were more likely to have boys while women whom had very little access to food usually had a girl due to the fact females tend to be more built for endurance.
