re: God does love and accept all gays

It depends on what that person believes about the god. What its properties are. There is theism, deism, pantheism, panentheism, pandeism and panendeism, aside from polytheism. The major difference between all of that is personal god [theism] vs impersonal god [deism].

When someone says they believe in a god but not organized religion, that's kind of a non sequitur. I usually find Christians saying things like that, where they believe in the Christian god and do adhere to their own flavor of Christianity but reject organized Christianity, which is merely gathering with other Christians of similar beliefs and generally listening to some kind of clergy member for interpretation of scripture and doctrine. That is organized Christianity, that is what it means for a religion to be "organized". In those specific cases, those theists are still Christians and still religious, they are just nondenominational Christians.

And agnosticism is not mutually exclusive with any of that mess.

Well if he definitely believes in a god that does things like want or answer prayer or intervenes with the goings-on in the universe etc, then he's a theist, an agnostic one. He could put "agnostic theist" there and that shouldn't cause nearly as much confusion. Because she is right, most people think of "agnostic" as AtheismLite™ because that's how it's been misused by
atheists who don't want to carry the stigma of the atheist word or have some misconception about it.

We are an odd match. I'm one of Jehovah's Witnesses and he's a "nothing" LOL. We got married while I wasn't a Witness for a number of years.

You're both Christians though, just different kinds. So there is some common ground at least.

What about people who believe Christianity is bogus, but still believe in god (or gods)?

Yeah it does help. There's been plenty of little debates though LOL. Sometimes I just say "I'm not discussing this with you right now, it's only going to lead to an argument." And then I ignore him lol

Well it goes back to the fundamentals of the god beliefs themselves. Are the gods personal [theism] or impersonal [deism], is the universe god or is the universe part of god and god transcends all of it, is the god conscious, etc.

Theism is definitely still more popular than deism, so odds are you're right, she's probably talking about a type of theism

Ahhh... I'm getting it! I may not agree with things, but I do try to be educated so I can understand. My mother is notorious for spouting crap and being clueless, Like that all Muslims are terrorists   highly irritating. She didn't Even Know how the president is really elected. Gah..
