Jillian Michaels while pregnant?

posted 28th Nov
So, there's a girl on my Facebook who, if I remember right from high school, is a little obsessed with her weight. She just announced on Facebook a few weeks ago that she's pregnant. Just now she posted a status about how she just completed the 30 Day Shred.
...Isn't that dangerous? Am I just being stupid or could that hard of a workout hurt her and/or the baby? I haven't said anything but I'm wondering if I should tactfully try to mention something to her? I generally keep to myself but I don't know.

I think it might depend on her fitness level pre pregnancy. If she was already in super good shape and worked out all the time then continuing to do so shouldn't hurt her although she should tone it down a bit.

I don't think so. I was doing P90X up until I found out I was pregnant. I didn't find out until I was almost 10 weeks along.

Yeah I would mention something. She might not listen, but she might. I had a friend on FB that was 22 weeks pregnant. She posted on her fb "Woohoo! I just finished my 1st week of the Insanity work out and I am already down 6 pounds! Gotta get in shape for this baby!" I commented that she should be careful because that kind of workout isn't safe for pregnancy. A few other people said the same and she got mad and said that she was "past the danger stage." 3 weeks later she lost the baby.

As long as it's something her body is used to and she doesn't have any restrictions I would imagine it's safe. It doesn't involve any super heavy lifting.

Quoting CRSx2Mommy:" I think it might depend on her fitness level pre pregnancy. If she was already in super good shape and ... [snip!] ... good shape and worked out all the time then continuing to do so shouldn't hurt her although she should tone it down a bit. "

I've heard people say you can continue doing in pregnancy what you did pregnancy but my own doctors told me to tone down my activity. I was doing yoga, pilates, running, and various Jillian Michaels DVDs prior to getting pregnant and switched over to prenatal yoga and walking. Not to say my doctors are more right than others, but it's what made me think doing so much could be dangerous.
