Stripped Membranes

posted 28th Nov
I am 39 weeks and have this huge rash that looks like little bug bites spreading all over my belly and now onto my hips. It is unbearably itchy. I had some blood work done and don't find out till tomorrow if it is anything to worry about. The midwife told me I basically will have to wait to have the baby for it to go away! So I asked to get my membranes stripped. Anything to get this over with! I also went up a bazillion stairs and am drinking Rasberry Leaf tea. The only thing is I had my membranes stripped earlier today and other than bleeding and it hurting when she did it I am having no cramping. Nothing! Does that mean that it had no effect at all? Or have others had no cramps and had it still work?

had the membranes sweep at 40 weeks same thing right? they sweep their finger around your cervix? the first time just like you said cramps and bleeding... had the 2nd one couple days later I was 2 cms at exam at 2 pm, had baby that night at 9 pm. those cramps could be early labor which may last days...to me labor just felt like suuuuuuuuuuuuuper bad menstrual cramps.

Yeah that is the same thing that I had done except I am NOT having cramping at all! It hurt when it was done but no cramping just a little bleeding. She said she did a good job so I guess it just isn't working for me?

Yeah i mean it really only helps if your body is ready, so just may not be time yet. I know the end drags forever but your baby knows when it is time, I went a couple days overdue. The brain still develops all the way till the end. Start walking I walked my ass off. I was walking during labor till the contractions were too strong.
