mommas nursing toddlers...advice please! :)

posted 28th Nov
So, my DD is 18 months old now, which I know is a totally normal age for toddlers to wean themselves. The last few days, my DD has only really nursed at nap time, and at night. Except today! She would not nurse at all, and she would keep biting me, even though she would request "booby". the worst is that she thought it was hilarious when I would tell her, "gentle! we don't bite boobies!"
She did go down early tonight after no napping, and she did nurse.
What is going on? I am not sure if I am ready for it to be over.
Is it teething/nursing strike/or her just weaning naturally? Thanks! !

My dd weaned down pretty quickly after about 18 mos but still nursed until 2.5. She would nurse before bed then only nursed a few times a week then a few times a month eventually towards the end.

DS wouldn't bite me but he stopped latching at 15 months. He just completely lost interest in me. I could ONLY get him to nurse in the morning when he was super sleepy. After that I figured I might as well just let nature take it's course since he was ready to be done. I was upset, I cried for a week. But it was so easy to let him self wean.

DS is 24 months and had been nursing only at night and before we get up since 15-16 months. He's definitely not ready to wean completely even though I am

oh whew! this is good to know. I was really trying to nurse until at least 2 years. I suppose it is just nature taking her course...

I know, I feel super sad, too! I love our quiet snuggle time moments. I am not even sure how to get her down to nap without whipping out my boob, haha

Thanks! i have no idea how this process works. i guess i will still keep offering, but maybe I should just accept that it might be the beginning of the end.
And my friend feels the same as you...her dd is 2.5 and STILL mostly nurses vs. eating whole meals, haha.

If I take off my shirt in front of DS he won't leave me alone, but normally he doesn't even bother trying to nurse during the day, unless he gets hurt

DS is 19 months and seems to be losing some interest in nursing. Everytie I think we are done he picks right back up again. I know I will cry when he stops. The only good thing about not nursing as much during the day is that my boobs are full but not too full so they actually look good instead of engorged or saggy pains in the ass lol

Sarah I just want to tell you how amazed I am by your bf journey and you're definitely my inspiration. I still get upset/annoyed about my bf experience and I hope it works out like you if we have another one. You deserve lotsa praise mama.

Just don't think about it. If its gonna happen u can't force it not to and if it doesn't it doesn't. If u stress about it it might push her away. Idk. Even when we went down to "don't offer don't refuse" she still nursed on her own occasionally even if it's not everyday.
