I saw a new trending weird name list and Gatsby was on it. I immediately thought "The Great Gatsby" and I freakin' love that as a first name haha, seeing as Ashley (my name) is originally a surname.
That's probably my favorite book of all time, but I'm not a fan of using Gatsby as a first name.
But like you said, Ashley used to be a surname, so maybe Gatsby will become more "normal" as a first name.
I can see the appeal from the feeling you get from it when you think about the book and the time period and such - but I do not think it translates well into real life.
