Baby butt zit.

posted 28th Nov
My 5 month old had a slight diaper rash for a few days, about a week ago. She had one spot outside of her diaper that hasn't gone away. Today, it's turned into a zit. But it's OUTSIDE of her diaper line   Should I just leave it alone? If I put anything on it, it just smears off because it isn't inside her diaper. This one spot has been there for a week, how long should I wait for it to go away before I call her pedi?

Keep a close eye on it. Those can sometimes turn into an abscesses. If it starts to get hard around it, then call the pedi ASAP.

Mrsa, some viruses that need ointment, and certain spider bites can look like zits. If its been there for a few days I would just call the doctor.

I'll call her pedi first thing in the morning tomorrow if it's still there. Should I put a band-aid over it to keep it from rubbing on her diaper?

With clean hands, touch around the perimeter to see if it is hard.

I touched it earlier when I was putting oil on her butt, and it isn't hard.

That's a good sign. Definitely get her an appointment. If it is an abscess, they can go from zero to 60 quick & need to be surgically drained along with heavy antibiotics.

Good luck! Hopefully it is just a zit and nothing more.
