Does this need addressed?

posted 28th Nov
I just want to make sure I'm not making a bigger issue of my son's habits than necessary. If your child did things like this would you get it further evaluated? Or am I being overly dramatic?

-When he was younger if he touched something that he didn't like the texture of he would puke (he doesn't as extreme on this anymore)
-He eats very few things and it gets more limited all the time. I can name about 10 things that he will eat, that's it. If we try to get him to eat something that is out of the norm, he'll puke. He always says he likes the way things taste but doesn't like how they feel in his mouth.
-Clothes are a major issue for him. If clothes don't feel just right he screams. This morning I spent 20 minutes begging him to put on gloves and he had a meltdown because they didn't "feel right"

That's really all I can think of right now. I feel like I'm making more of it than I need to but it's also causing him to get really upset daily. Our mornings are torture because he doesn't want to get dressed. I don't know if it matters, but he's 6 years old.

Sounds like he has sensory issues. Although some may think that its typical behavior

I would just mention it to his pedi, I agree that it sounds like potential sensory issues.

I would take him in. My cousin was like that when he was little. Instead of doing something about it, my aunt just let him eat what he wanted to. Now his diet consists of, pb&j, chicken nuggets, fries, burgers, soda and sausage wrapped in a pancake. Most of his problem is the parenting but I guess it is easy for this kind of thing to spiral out of control.

That's the thing, we make him try new things but he pukes. And he's not doing it to get out of trying stuff.

My cousin puked too in the beginning and then got use to getting whatever he wanted so he wouldn't puke. This was a gradual process that started at like 2. He is 13 now.

I would definitely mention it. Most likely they will send him to an occupational therapist to help with his texture issues.
