Blood at 40+2

posted 28th Nov
Well I've been having horrible contractions every 5-7 min since 3 a.m. I get bad period like cramps with the tightening and it lasts about 1 and a half minutes to 2 minutes long, usually accompanied by cramps in my lower back.

Every time I go to the bathroom I wipe and there's blood. A couple times they were huge mucus globs completely covered in blood. I put a pad on and there is blood n the pad as well as every time I wipe.

I called L&D and the nurse told me to lay down, drink water and time my contractions for an hour and call back. They are still 5-7 min apart. Could this be early labor? I'm worried the contractions will never get close enough together   this really feels like labor, all of the typical signs

I am 3 cm and 50% effaced.

It sounds like early labor if they are persisting. If they get closer together though I would go in. Good luck.

That was bloody show. When you've had contractions about 5 minutes apart for 1-2 hours, it's time to head it. Why don't you shower, get ready, pack everything you need, and eat a big meal! You aren't gonna eat til baby arrives once you're admitted. Then head on in. This will get most of your laboring done at home and get you there in the right time frame.

If you're contractions get strong enough that you can't walk or talk through them, head in.

Yeah I want to but they keep telling me I need to wait until they are 3-4 minutes apart. But this is my second and I live 45 min away. My first labor was pretty short.

I think you are in labor. Just try and relax. Its nicer to labor at home as much as you can, when you have to really concentrate and breath thru the contractions, it's time to go in. Good luck!

Then you should probably load up and head on in. A lot can change in 45 minutes, your contractions may be coming faster then.

I would just go in then, a lot can happen in an hour.

And if they aren't, you can grab a bite to eat and walk around for a bit, then drive over to the hospital, because you will be right there.

Sounds like labor. Finish up what you need to do at home, pack your bag etc.

I can talk a bit through them, but I do have to take deep breaths. I can barely walk through them because of the pain. Just wish they'd get closer together, I'm worried they won't get closer together until the very end.

Toss your bags in the car and eat. I'd go, to be honest. My contractions stayed 6 minutes apart until I was a 10, then they slowed, then sped way up. And you had a fast labor last time. I wouldn't risk another hour when I had a 45 minute drive ahead. Especially when you can walk around and kill time when you get there.
