if you were induced

posted 28th Nov
And had to go in the night before for cervidil, did they give you something to help you sleep while you were waiting?

I remember when I was admitted for my pre e with my first (at 34 weeks) they gave me ambien while I was on the mag drip.

Would it be okay to ask them to give it to me again, so I can get some rest before the big event, I know I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight.

There's no harm in asking.

Yes they offered me sleeping meds after I was on the cervadil. I took them and slept great, I have no clue what it was though.

I'd ask definitely. If I'm gonna be in labor all night I'm gonna ask for something to help me rest too lol. With DD1 I was up 24+ hours :/

Thanks! I wasn't sure if it made me sound like a whiner to ask, but I do really need to get some rest before all the pushing and stuff. lol

I know what you mean, with my first, I didn't sleep at all the night before, and had him in my room the night he was born, I didn't get any sleep at all. I just want to be well rested when I meet my little guy.

wow, I am already dilated some, so I am hoping it will go smooth, and they will only need to do cervidil overnight. That is what the midwife said to expect.

I was induced with my first and I got to go home after each of the two rounds of Cervidil (after lots of testing and monitoring). My midwives suggested a drowsy version of Gravol for early labour (not just when I was induced).

I can't remember if I took it after the second round was removed (and I was in early labour), but if I did, it didn't help much. I slept between contractions, they were 10 - 20 minutes apart but I was up during every contraction (lying down was too painful) and had to use the washroom after each one.

My hospital is over an hour one way, so I won't be going home after the cervidil is in place. I am spending the night up there. I haven't slept well the last 2 months. I think that's pretty common towards the end, but I would really like to conserve as much energy as possible for the birth.

They did w/DD, but w/DS I didn't get anything. they put cervidil in, I contracted every minute for 4 hours, had him 4hrs 15m after they inserted it. so I'm glad I didnt have anything :-)
