Men should lead the family quote D&D

posted 28th Nov
I don't agree with a lot of the things a friend of mine posts, but I usually read them anyways.

This is an article called "4 Ways to Respect Your Man." Usually it is chalk full of christian values on how to please your man.

Anyways. An anon. person left this post in the comments section:

Anyone have advice on how to respect your husband when he's a Christian, but has left you in the position of leadership? He's a sensitive, loving, caring and compassionate man, but he just WILL NOT step up and lead our family. I desperately want him to. We've talked and fought and prayed and talked about this, but he just talks the talk. Our kids don't respect him, even though they are taught to obey him. I guess the truth is that I don't respect him, either. I want to. I serve him, encourage him, and all those things, but deep down I don't really respect him on a spiritual level. Anyone?

How do you feel about this? D&D

My question to that woman would have to be how do you respect yourself when you need your husband to lead you?

I am fine if both people are comfortable in traditional roles, and want a family like that. But, it doesn't make sense to me how one person can lack respect for someone else for not doing what they don't want to do, themselves. I hope that made any sense.

I feel like they live in a different world than I do.

I would not be able to offer any advice or support.

Some people take the honor and serve thing to a whole new level. Things have changed these days. We should both honor and serve each other. It is no longer a mans world. However, some religions still follow these outdated methods, and I can't argue with that. If the woman didn't want that, she could have changed churches, married someone else, etc. if these are her beliefs, she has a minor predicament. But I am sure they will work everything else with the guidance and assistance of their pastor. And then they will seek counseling for sexual discord. On an on and on.

I think she's a bit off her rocker. But I personally do believe in the Christian order of headship. My husband and I are equals in decisions, we discuss everything, but if it came down to it, his decision is the final one. If he puts his foot down (which has happened once in 3 years and it was regarding my mother and stuff she was expecting so he bashed down quick) I go along with it.

It would be very helpful to know what her idea if "leading is" and what that even means. I am clueless & never have understood the concept.

My Dh's idea of leadership is driving us in circles for 2 hrs because he refuses to get directions & then I finally have to insist I need to pee so I can get directions from someone at the gas station without making him feel like I don't think he can get us there.

If that is what she means - then I agree. LOL

Somehow I think she means something more.

I think she probably means leads in discipline, making the children obey, planning things for the family, saying "We do this at ____" whatever, making decisions about what person does what chore and stuff like that.
