It's a religious thing.

Religious or not, it's a pretty dated and pathetic way of thinking.

I do not think she is an idiot at all. Some women still like it when men have the lead roll. I don't see what the big deal is. If he is loving and caring that is all that should matter. As long as people are happy in their marriage, then yea for them.

I have a friend who always posts things like this. I don't agree with it, it is pretty dated.

Yeah, but from what it sounds like, although he's loving and caring, she is not happy.

She doesn't want the role, but doesn't respect her husband because he doesn't want it, either. IMO, that's what's wrong here. This is not a relationship that both people are happy in traditional roles.

I'm what's considered a "conservative" Christian and I don't serve my husband.. None of the women I know do lol. They respect them, their opinions and headship but don't serve lol

Well then she'd hate my Dh. He does none of that...really, ever. LOL

Mine either. I pretty much handle the day to day life. We discuss major things together but he leaves most things up to me. Like I said before, he's only put his foot down once and that was involving my mother. He'd just bought me a $300 mixer I'd been wanting for years, and she expected to get to take it out of our house (it's like 40lbs and she can barely get herself up and down our 3 flights of stairs) to her house just to bake with it. He told her ABSOLUTELY NOT because he knew if it broke I'd be out my 2 week old mixer because my father would refuse to replace it.

I guess i kind of get it. My family is full of NOTHING but dominate men. I do not and will not date men that dont have that type of dominate personality because in my head I will view him as weak.

I believe this particular practice is specific to the Christian Patriarchy movement. Among other unpleasant and dated practices.

My dad beat the smurf out of my mom and destroyed her psychologically, used Christianity to do it, that's the ultimate dominance.

I am not interested in men that try to one up me in any single thing. So I married a fluffy sweetheart who is even geekier than me.

It is easier said than done, absolutely... and IMO, it's just so disrespectful to think your partner should change themselves to that extent. Obviously, they've been together a little while if they're married... and have kids... I would think it'd be pretty obvious from the start whether this person that you're dating is dominant and likes to make all of the decisions, or if they're easy going and want to share the duties and decision making.
