hope it works for you! You can always thicken it up by adding more sugar and a bit of cream I just play with it until I get the right texture it is really yummy though  
the only time it came out weird was when i used salted butter...

All I have is unsalted butter and it came out weird. It was good, but yellowish from the vanilla, then I added the food coloring and it all went to hell.

I meant all I had was salted butter. That may be why.

It was kind of thick, then idk if it was the stirring to mix the coloring that thinned it out or what, because when I was finished it just looked like a glop of goo. Almost more like cake batter than icing.

I tried this frosting a few days ago on chocolate cupcakes. It was great and easy to work with.
It's peppermint-white chocolate so you should be able to add color.
