Baby shower for 3rd kid?

Well, I guess 2nd... I dont think the first one counts, it was 18 years ago. My youngest is 21 months, so we just had a shower for her in Jan of 2011.
My MIL and my mom both threw baby showers for me with Olivia who is almost 2 but (2 different states, different groups of people). My SIL wants to give us one for this baby. I dont want to be tacky... it IS our fault that we gave away ALL of our baby stuff because we weren't going to have anymore (or at least not for a looong time).

What do I do? If someone else wants to do it, do I go along with it? I never mentioned it the thought to anyone so I'm not sure how to react.

Well you probably wouldn't be using a bunch of stuff from 18 years ago anyways, and from what I've heard if its a big gap between kids, it's totally exceptible to have another baby shower.

I don't think it's tacky at all. You gave away all your stuff and your last one was 18 years ago. My family goes by more than 5 years ago or different gender.

If she wants to throw it I say let her. Just let her know that you would prefer to keep it as low key as possible to avoid being tacky about it. I really only think it's tacky when people throw their own or demand a baby shower after multiple kids.

So what happened 18 years ago? Your first kid, right? And you didn't have a shower for your second?

I'm only having a baby shower if this baby is a girl, I have two boys.

I did... I have to totally reword my post. It sounds confusing. No, my MIL and mom threw me one for Olivia, born in 2011.

Our first we had two showers, same issue with Seperate families. When we have our second we will probably just have a meet the baby party. Our first we didn't have showers until after she was born since we had a gender surprise. We/our families made sure we had the necessities we needed.

I don't think it's tacky if someone wants to throw you one, but I wouldn't expect gifts like I would have for my first.

I agree with this.

My coworkers threw me a surprise shower with #2. It wasn't tacky because I had nothing to do with it, lol.

I dont see a problem with it at all.

Agreed. I dont even think I'm going to register anywhere. Im fine with or without. I have a lot of amazing friends willing to donate boy clothes if it's a boy! lol

Okay, so either way if your SIL wants to throw you one, it's not tacky to accept. It's only tacky when you ask for one or throw it yourself IMO......unless you had the kid more than 5 years ago. But that's pretty subjective.

I don't see a problem if someone is wanting to throw it for you.
