Sweat and other stuff...

posted 28th Nov
I'm going to the doctors later today to have some blood tests done. This is because I have several things going on with my body that are making me miserable. A few of these things are; excessive sweating, difficulty losing or maintaining weight regardless of whether I am living a healthy lifestyle, irregular periods with spotting in between.
I have had these things going on since I was about 15/16 but they got worse after I got pregnant (obviously not the period bit). So my question is, does anyone on here relate to this? I took DD for her jabs today and started sweating in the waiting room even though it's absolutely freezing, then when the nurse called me she said every time she sees me I am having these hot flushes and she thinks it's something to do with my hormones. I hope it's nothing.

it kind of sounds like it could be your thyroid, which controls your hormones. you should google thyroid before you go and bring it up at your app! good luck, i hope you get some answers!

Your thyroid doesn't control all of your hormones, only T3 and T4. If it was hypothyroidism, you would have the difficulty losing weight but you'd also more likely be cold all the time.

I have the same bad hot flashes, but only since I've been pregnant...so it probably is something hormonal. It's below freezing outside and I have to have the window open so I'm not sweating...my skin will even be cold to the touch but I still feel hot.

Yeah I get like that. It got worse when I was pregnant but I've had it for years, so I think pregnancy just made it worse. Although it did all start after my first pregnancy. I don't know if that means anything. I'm hoping to get some answers soon anyway! I hate needles

my mom had hypo/hyper thyroidism where her thyroid was going back and forth between over production and under production. if you had that you could possibly have symptoms from either end of the thyroid problem spectrum at the same time.

I really hope it doesn't continue after my pregnancy! It makes me lightheaded sometime because I'm so overheated. I keep telling the mdiwives and they just keep brushing it off as hormones and telling me to keep hydrated and eat a snack to make sure my BS isn't low. I am sucking down water all day and never letting myself get too hungry...plus at work I keep an eye on my BS and BP and they're both fine! It's frustrating.

If you're getting lightheaded have they not tested you for anaemia? I developed it in pregnancy and fainted after labour because of it along with losing so much blood. I was always getting dizzy and lightheaded towards the end of pregnancy

LOL! Wow, I'd hope I have at least another 20 years before that!

That's what I thought, because I was anemic with my last pregnancy and I tend to get anemic quite often...but they said with my last bloodwork (2 weeks ago) that my iron was fine.

I'll be sure to mention it to my doctor   thanks. At least it is treatable

Were you getting lightheaded around the time they did your last blood work or is it a new thing?

Umm it's been for the last few weeks...I take a slow-release iron supplement in addition to my prenatals, though. I've just kinda chalked it up to overheating or the baby pressing on an artery/nerve. I had them take me out of work this week because I can't stand for prolonged periods of time...even when I'm in the shower, I start seeing spots.

Oh dear, seeing spots is never good, it's wise that you've been taken out of work. I saw spots and shapes at the end and I had pre-e, gah
