I was in labor for four days(naturally) I was dilated to 5cm. They broke my water and I stopped dilating so they had to give me pitocin to progress.

depends on the situation. sometimes breaking the water is all that's needed, but if that doesn't stir the pot enough then pitocin is started.

I had it done with 4 of 5. They brought me in and started the Pitocin drip (can't remember how to spell it..sorry)... Then to get things really going they would break my water (if it didn't on it's own) They also did a massage to my cervix to help stretch it a little (if i am remembering correctly)...Don't remember at what point I got my epidural but I believe it just depended on when I could no longer tolerate the pain, because I think it slows down the process.

Really we were thinking of that hospital but we choosed long beach memorial hospital. Super big and alot of privacy!

They never broke my water first. They said it was to prevent dry birth and minimize any associated risk. Although most females water breaks at home. They said , being induced is not natural and breaking it first can cause complications along with infection. Also if they break the water first they usually give 24 hrs to deliver before wanting to do a c-section..So, they rather wait to do it.
I am not a doctor so I don't know. I am just saying what they told me when I asked.

That sounds like it makes sense because i heard after your water broken you have certain amount of time before a csection.

prevent a dry birth???? what the hell does that mean??? and most people DO NOT have there water break at home. most contract first and sometime during the labor will break (or not i have seen a babies delivered with the bag of waters intact and the rupture of membranes occurs after the deliver) AROM is usually done in cases where contractions are not strong enough to change the cervix, but painful enough that the woman can't/won't go home. Its a more natural way of augmenting labor or inducing labor then using medications and has less risk then using medications

Dry birth means the water is broken early in labor and it usually does in 10% of births. The fluid continues to replenish itself however having your water broken for too long greatly increases the risk of infection as well as if you don't deliver after a certain time they give you a C-Section..... ...I never said a baby comes out in a sack...Thanks for the lesson but I know how labor works as I have given birth to 5 and will have another in 12wks...Thanks though.

I get what you are trying to say and you misunderstood what I was saying. I said , They break the water if it hasn't already. Which means....After giving the pitocin, if the contractions do not rupture the sack (after a certain point) they do it to speed things up. However ,they try not to do it too early to minimize the risk of infection and a C-section.....
That is what I meant by "they did not break my water first". They gave the pitocin first .....Then at a certain point in labor they broke my water (if the contractions did not break it already).

there is no time limit in nost places for water to be broken as far as after X hours a c-section is done, starting antibiotics after 12 or 18 hours yes, but most up to date hospitals and doctors don't do c-sections simply because the water broke

You are wrong there darling.
If your water is broken they will start you on antibiotics, true. But there is a time limit.
usually between 24-48 hrs. Then you get a c-section.
