Quoting Avery’s momma:" I had a c section and I had him in a little portable crib thingy right next to my bed but I couldn’t lift him out or move so I had to call a nurse in every time he cried or i wanted him"

At my hospital you weren't allowed to be alone with your baby if you couldn't get out of your bed.   It was really bizarre. So they brought him to me to nurse.

My hospital offered nursery time if requested. Or the nurses suggested it.
With my first child, she was very fussy the first day, so the nighttime nurses would take her for 2 hours at a time so I could sleep.

My second stayed with me 100% of the time, I had a better c section that time.
My 3rd DD stayed 100% of the time as well.

Also with my first (16 years) she was in the nursery most of the time. She was born at 34 weeks and had to be in the incubator & on oxygen for 4 days, The last night she stayed in the room with me. My 2nd & 3rd i had them with me the whole time. I already posted about Lo

but... that wont' change if baby is in or out of room right?

nurses are only checking things that need to be checked. if they were in that frequently.. you needed them.

Eh, no biggie. My mom was there during the day (along with every body else I knew it seems like) so it was just at night but I was only there two nights.

I didn't... at least it sure didn't seem it. I had 0 complications, baby had 0 complications. There was photographers bothering us, nurses, lactation consultants, etcetc... never ending stream of people asking stupid questions or bothering me about one thing or another. Trying to convince me to let them take the baby to the nursery, trying to get me to take pain meds I didn't need, trying to tell me to give the baby to them for them to give it formula although I was breast feeding... gaw, it was awful... to the point where I'm tempted to go for a home birth this time.

Holy crap!

Makes me love my hospital more. The one time they did take him, I had given permission for the nurses to fingerfeed him formula Because I wasn't producing any colostrum due to blood loss, and they still brought him back because his chart said "breastfed". They are like nazis there about only doing what parents allow and nothing else. He even had a note they taped to his bassinet That said "no pacifier".

I don't think they actually did give her any, they brought her to me when she was hungry the one time they had her... but the nurse was like offended I wouldn't let them formula feed her. "One bottle won't hurt" bluhbluh. Maybe not but there was no need for it. She was giving me plenty of wet/dirty diapers, I was having no latching issues, feeding on demand. I was tired but not desperate.

I wish we had been lucky like that. My son wouldn't even latch for like 4 weeks. It was hell trying to breastfeed. He still isn't a big fan.

I'm sorry to hear that... at 4 months I had to stop because I had to get on some meds... which sucked so badly. I didn't want to stop and we had a great breastfeeding relationship. Broke my heart.

I'm hoping this one is much easier. It sounds bad but with him I don't even enjoy it.

The hospital I had our son at didn't offer, they just took him. Right after he was born they cleaned him up and let me hold him then took him to warm him up because he was a little pale and I passed the hell out before they even got my bed out of the room to move me from labor and delivery to mother and baby. I woke up when they brought him all pink back to me to feed him then after he ate they took him back to the warmer in the nursery. Had I not been SO out of it I wouldn't have let them take him but I had a 25 hour labor with no food or drink for 33 hours and no rest the entire labor so I was too exhausted to know what was going on. I breastfed him when they brought him to me and I slept the rest of the day. The next day we kept him with us then we went home.
