How do you feel about it?? Did you get it for your lo?

All my kids had it as well as myself and every other person I know who has kids, had their kids get it.

Not getting it. I do vaccinate, except for flu and chicken pox.

I might have done chicken pox, but I haven't had it myself. We'd both have to get vaccinated at the same time in case she had a reaction and became contagious.

Yeah DD is getting it.
I got chicken pox when I was 2 and I spent 3 weeks in ICU, I still have scars from it.

My son ended up getting it at 10 1/2 weeks old, don't ask me how lol. He's not getting the vaccine and I had it when I was really young.

Did you know that if u naturally get chicken pox you are susceptible for shingles when your older where if u get the vaccine you are not? That's why my lo is getting it... :-)

I know tons of old asshats that got it naturally that never had shingles. who knew.

I'm a little older than most moms on her so I may be coming from a different point of view but when I was little EVERYONE had chicken pox and no one batted an eye at it, it was expected that you'd get it and thought to be abnormal if you didn't. Not only that but if it was discovered that someone you knew had and you hadn't yet, some people would have chicken pox parties into to get it so that they didn't risk getting it when much older (better to yet it young). It was never anything that anyone ever was scared of, doctors just kinda shrugged and said 'meh, they'll get over it' yet somehow now that there's a vaccine for it everyone is being scared into getting it for their LO's, I've heard so many moms being told 'if you don't your baby could die', and I'm sure it's possible but certainly not common, probably less common than dying from the flu.

I agree with this 100%. I wasn't going to get it for DS even if he didn't catch it.

I read about a mom on here who's 19 month old got the shingles. He hadn't had the pox, but had the vaccine. That is so smurfed up. Its actually making people more likely to get shingles later in life than if they get the pox. Also the pox doesn't kill you so there is no reason to risk the vaccine. So not worth injecting toxic chemicals into my kids body.

did you know you are more likely to get shingles with the vaccine than the pox?

I still vax, but I thought she had it backwards, am I right? lol I second guessed myself lol couldnt remeber. All I know is that its kids with pox that are infecting the elderly who are more acceptable to get shingles, oh I wish I could find the article I read a while ago on it. lol

You are absolutely right. And the vaccine isn't as strong of an immunity as the actual pox, so you are more likely to either still get the pox after the vaccine again, or get shingles later in life.
