increase in baby movement

so just outta curiosity do babys movements increase right before labor starts? hes movements have been very minimal recently and then today ive been cramping a lot in my lower abdomon and my baby is moving around like crazy.. i had my first sign of bloody mucas plug about 20 minutes ago. i was due yesterday.
