Help! Daughter won't drink formula...!

posted 27th Nov
My daughter is 10 months old and for the past few days I have been having trouble getting her to drink! Yesterday and today she has finally been drinking pedialyte, but every time I give her formula she gags. If she even smells it she will turn her head and push it away... She will drink a few ounces of milk here and there. Should I just switch her to milk? Has anyone else had this problem? (She did just get her top teeth in too so I think she wasn't drinking because it hurt her to suck on the bottle)

Was she always formula fed? Is this a new brand? Is it the bottle?

She was breast fed until six months, but since then she has been on the same formula with the same bottles. I have even occasionally used these bottles while I was breastfeeding (with pumped milk) but I haven't changed anything.... :-(

Don't switch her to cows milk exclusively. She needs the nutrition from breastmilk or formula til a year. I would give her any cows milk period until a year old actually.

Maybe she is not liking the bottle. Try a sippy cup. Something just might have set her off with the bottle. IDK.

Hmmm. Is it a new container of formula?

My kids were all ebf so I am not much help but for her to refuse something she has been consuming daily without problem says their might be another issue.

Have you called her Dr? Maybe a call first thing in the morning is in order. I am fresh out of ideas. Sorry.

It's ok, I've still been breastfeeding and she want nothing to do with that either so I guess her pedi is the best answer! :-)

Do you think she has an ear infection?

continue to try it and give her some whole milk. I know in the states they say not till 12 months, but here in Canada its 9 months to start giving whole milk. dd is 10 months old next week and gets 2 cups of whole milk a day (she still drinks 50oz of formula a day) but my pedi last week told me I can take her off of formula mostly since she only needs 24oz at 10 months. lol

Is your 10 month old on foods like red meats etc....? My dd is only on table foods and gets a ton of iron and protein a day so she is good to be off of formula lol and on whole milk lol
