She does drink small amounts of milk, but no she doesnt get much red meat at all, more fruits and veggies

How come?

DD has been eating red meats and poultry fish eggs rice and pastas and breads since 6 months old. I know in the states the pedi is big on food is for fun and not till 1 or something, right?

Here its different, they encourage table foods at 6 months old lol I have always made my own baby foods. But she needs the iron and protein from red meats and poultry etc.....and even more so if she is not drinking the formula (milk no iron) formula full of iron. so its formula or iron packed foods, beef is a great source of iron.

Hmmm I guess because that's what the pedi told me! She does get some small amounts of meat when we have certain things, but thank you for the advice! I will definetly be upping her meat intake!

Yes, but they way they are cooked defines how much iron or nutrients you are keeping in them. Iron is best from red meats.

Red meats are hard on an infants stomach. That is why you dont' see red meat in stage 1 and in hot dog form in stage 2.

If she is doing babyfood from say Gerber, they are all iron rich.

Be careful introducing more meat and table foods. Infants digestive systems just aren't made for all that stuff at that age. =/ I would call your pedi in the morning before trying to compensate the lack of formula with table food, especially in a 10 month old. Good luck!

Um here red meats are in stages 6 months and up and highly recommended by our Dr's to introduce them at that age. Jarred foods are crap, wouldnt feed them to my dog. Homemade is the way to go. I know whats in it and exactly what she is eating.

My DD did the same thing around that age. She weened herself from nursing at about 9 1/2 months (boo) and flat out refused any kind of formula. Period. The doctor had me switch her to whole milk and she was fine : )

I think there's a big difference between here and Canada though. My pedi leaned more towards delaying solids and baby led solids. Reduces the risk of allergy occurances.

Here they say delaying foods are not helpful in reducing allergies but are more of a reason on causing allergies, which is why eggs pb fish etc is also introduced at 6 months of age, and use whole milk is at 9 months of age.
