shes 12, but he does have her own space. even though they share a room DD still sleeps with us and during the day she always in the living room the only time she goes in the room is when she is in time out or goes and plays with her toys.

Your SIL is 12? She is a child and has NO right punishing your child. I don't mind if my SIL punishes my kids when they sleep over, however she is an adult and its her home, so if my kids act out of line she has my permission to punish. but your story is totally different.

No way in hell I would have someone around my child who tried to hit them. I understand its your SIL, but your daughter is your number one priority. Good luck, sound like a tough situation.

she does stay in our room but SIL always leaves her papers around the room when i tell her to put them away cause i know how DD is.

Well a 12 yr is still a child. She probably doesn't understand why it's not ok. Se is probably thinking " i want this kid k get out of my stuff" I had triplet sibling 11 uts younger than me and it was annoying as ell when my mom did not watch them and thy were in my stuff. If try to nicely punish since she was not stopping the behavior.
