I strongly agree with you on the hep B... only I do think it is important, later in life. I do know people with hep B and it can ruin your life, but the only new born who need it IMO are the ones who's Mom have it.

I do not agree with you on the Rotavirus, because they have a newer vaccine out now that dose not have the risk of intussusception that the older vaccine had. So I feel that this vaccines benefits far out weigh the risk. I am not sure I would feel that way if they were still using the older version. that was taken of the market in 1999

If this vaccine is not given your child will get this illness and the risks of this are not ones that I am willing to live with, I am a SAHM who breastfeeds so I did think about not giving this but when i looked into the number of kids who do get it and end up in the hospital I felt it was pretty important for us

I also got the Polio vaccine but I can see how a lot of people could not feel it is important for them. My grandparents had Polio so I have strong feelings about it. the vaccine is one I feel good about so my LO did have it but I think for parents who are trying to give their LO as few vaccines as possible than this is a good one to cut out.

Hep B will be given to my daughter later in life when it becomes an actual risk.

As for the Rotavirus, it's an illness of severe diarrhea. Which most children will have regardless at some point in their life, and with modern medicine will most likely be treated effectively before the risk of dehydration gets too severe. Plus the two new vaccines have been suspended for use a few times.....http://www.nvic.org/vaccines-and-diseases/Rotavirus.aspx.....the risks of the possible shot reactions and effect of the ingredients outweighs the risk of her dying from diarrhea IMO. Plus vaccines are never 100% effective. If they were then mothers who vax wouldn't be worried about unvaccinated children. That's my reasoning behind not doing that vaccine.

As for polio, my grandmother got it from the vaccine. Granted it was back when there was the live virus in the oral form, but still. It's not prevalent right now so I don't feel that it's necessary for her to get it. Even her pedi said so and she is for vaccinating.

I agree with you. we choose to get the Rotavirus because I feel the vaccine is safe and effective and it will prevent my LO form getting sick. But I also agree with parents who do not get it. Because most times the sickness is not that bad.

I agree with you about the Hep B also I think its stupid to give it to new born!

What I really love is that more and more parents are seriously looking into what Drs are giving to our children. No matter if the parent chooses to give every vaccine or just one or none. I am just glad that us as parents are starting to do more of our own research. That is wonderful.

Absolutely   everyone should do research and be informed instead of just doing what the government says to do. I'm a little upset with myself that I didn't look into this for my first daughter, but better late than never I guess! If you think about it, no kind of medication is treated as a "one size fits all" for anyone so why should vaccinations? They aren't for everyone the way I see it.
