Lottie is a traditional nickname for the name Charlotte. I know a very. Women around my neighborhood tend to go for very traditional, or big family meaning.

Ainsley is just so, ugh, stupid and sounds like a "teen mom" name.. something a 12 year old would want to name their kid. just my opinion. it doesnt grow with a person either.

Ainsley is god-awful to be honest. It sounds like something a 15 year old would pick.

Aisling, maybe? (Ashling would be the Americanized version).

Ainsley is just going to look so incredibly dated and silly in 15 years. You are naming an adult, after all. They spend a year as a baby - 60+ years as an adult.

I'm all for honest, but can we please not be insulting?

I can see that it doesn't grow super well.

And I know lottie is a traditional nickname for it, but to me it sounds OLD, not traditional. Like something you'd call a 90 year old woman, not a little girl.

All 90 year old women were little girls at some point. Also, why is Lottie not ok, but crap like Haylee is......

If you knew my first name, you'd know you do NOT have to caution me about picking a name that won't seem ridiculous in a few years. Its damn near impossible for me to get a job with my first name.

And Aisling looks made up and misspelled to me. Just looks weird. And I don't want an anything-ized version of a name. I like names that are real names, just not super common.

My son is Axton and I got a lot of strange looks when I was naming him, but its something he can grow into, is a real name, is spelled like a human would spell it, and can be shortened or combined with his middle name, Joseph, to become a whole slew of other things. I want something versatile that isn't going to pigeonhole my kiddo into being stuck with something they hate later since I hate my name!

LMFAO - Aisling is REAL, dumbass, it's Irish.

And if you have an ridiculously stupid name that prevents you from getting jobs, why the heck would you do the same thing to your child?

I never said Haylee was okay. I, personally, wouldn't name my child that or anything close to it.

I just don't like the nickname Lottie. And I understand that 90 year old women were little girls...about 85 years ago. That's a lot of time. A lot of names that were popular and really common them seem unusual now or out-dated.

It means the name stands the test of time, which Ainsley does not.

I didn't say it WASN'T real, just that it doesn't LOOK real and looks odd to me. There are a lot of names from other cultures that don't look like real names.

And Ainsley is NOT going to keep anyone from getting a job. It might not be well loved, but its not "Flower" or "Blue" or something like that.

Aisling is a really common name. It's pronounced Ash-leen.

Its my BIL's dog's name though, haha

Yes it will. The spelling is slightly ambiguous, the gender is ambiguous and it sounds very juvenile.

So what? So Ainsley wasn't common 90 years ago. So I don't like the NICKNAME "Lottie" (despite my love for the name Charlotte, but only as a middle name).

I understand people don't like the name. That's why I posted asking for opinions, but I did not ask to be insulted. I welcome constructive criticism with REAL reasons why the name is not a good one, but the fact that there are no 90 year olds named Ainsley running around is NOT a valid reason not to use a name.

gender ambiguity is not a reason not to hire someone based off a name on a resume. There are a LOT of socially acceptable gender neutral names.

And the spelling is straightforward. Its a real name. Has a real spelling and is clearly pronounceable from that spelling.

Juvenile I can kindof see, so that'll go onto the cons list when I weigh out final decisions.
