Pediatricians don't know all. They're not gods ffs. Do your own research. It's ridiculous that people just blindly follow any recommendations given to them without doing their own research first. Rice cereal USED to be recommended for bottle-feeding by pediatricians. Now most know better. Not all, but most.

If a pediatrician says to give cereal to the baby for reflux that's fine but if they are saying to give it to them to sleep through the night that's stupid.

I just gave my opinion out, she dont give him a whole spoon full
she gives him not even a half tea spoon.

I wasn't replying to you I was replying to someone else. Either way your sister shouldn't be doing it at all. The baby will learn to sleep through the night on it's own eventually.

Oh sorry.
But no, my sister only did it once and he slept through the night.
So i was just saying it can help them get full and sleep through the night.
And that if a baby cant poop she mixes half a tea spoon of syrup
in his formula

You're fine, just don't get so defensive on here. It's not worth the fighting I promise. If it seems like the baby isn't full yet then she should give the baby more formula not cereal. The syrup for pooping I think is ok because my peditrician suggested it. Karo Syrup.

What does that even mean?? Umm, no thanks.
Like the PP said, don't get so defensive. I never said you were dumb or a terrible person or anything.
Giving a 1 month old cereal to help him sleep and make him more full isn't smart though, whether she gives it to him all of the time or not. His little tummy isn't developed enough yet for it. Also, it isn't proven to help babies sleep through the night. Might have helped him, but it could also have just been a coincident. Either way, not recommended and not a good idea.

I love the cereal in the bottle fight... happens daily on BG lol. ANyways... with that said... If putting cereal in the bottle is a "MAJOR" choking hazard as I have heard from numerous people from time to time, then why is it recommended for reflux then? Hmmmm let me think about this... my child chokes to death on cereal in the bottle, or he has reflux.... hard decision... I'll choose the relux lol. My DD had reflux and the pedi suggested cereal in the bottle... I did research and googled and I could not find ONE story of an infant choking to death on cereal in the bottle. Has anyone ever heard of this 1st hand? Just wondering bc I couldnt find any cases of it when I researched.... All I found was people saying it was a choking hazard but no actual instances of it happening. After my research, I decided to go ahead and do it when she was about 9 weeks old. I am not too sure if it really helped the relux so we didn't do it every bottle. Her reflux is completely gone now, but we still put it in her last bottle of the day.

My daughter choked on cereal in her bottle.

She obviously didn't die but it was smurfing terrifying.

So my dumb ass switched to giving it to her on a spoon -_-

But who knows if she actually choked bc of the cereal in the bottle or just bc she got choked up on the formula which infants do. My DD has choked on her formula (without cereal) before bc she swallowed wrong or it went down the wrong pipe... scary as smurf to say the least... but may not necessarily be bc of the cereal in the bottle in your case?
