Gasping noises

Okay I've never heard a baby make these noises but my son will be 7 weeks this Thursday and he's basically done this since he was born but when he's sleeping he makes a snoring noise SO loud we can't hear the tv sometimes and I have to turn him on his side to get him to stop. When he's eating or sucking on his paci he makes these gasping noises like he's forgetting to breath or having a hard time. We took video of him doing it and let the pediatrician listen and she said it sounds like it's his nose and if there is even a little bit of mucus in his nose he has a very tiny air way to breath from. It does seem that when he makes the noise his mouth is closed but is anyone else's baby super noisy?!!? He's always making noise and sometimes it really concerns me like he's struggling??

My dr asked me if I snored once and told me it can be a sign of sleep apnea... maybe get a second opinion from a GP?

Ive wondered that myself. My husband thinks im just being a crazy mom but hes constantly making these noises

Ohhhh.. that dreaded gasping noise... used to freak me the SmUrf out. I HATED IT!!! My DD used to do it in her sleep, when she ate, when we burped her or just randomly. She was also a noisy sleeper and snored. I brought it up the pedi on several occasions and they said it was normal. She had reflux as well which contributed to it. I would say the noise got less when she was about 3 mos old... and was completely gone by 5 mos old. Just sux hearing it... its an awful sounding noise.

Yes I totally agree. I hate that sound it makes me think he's hurting or something. The pedi told us after she watched/listened to the video that some babies are just vocal and they make constant noise which I can kinda understand cause I talk NON stop lol   She looked up his nose and then she put his paci in and she plugged one side of his nose and then she did the other side and it seems that it's the right side he has trouble breathing through maybe once they hit 3 months the nasal passages are a little wider and it will get better guess I'll stay posted and just make sure they are listening to his lungs and I'll keep telling them if he's still doing it. Worst noise ever though!

If it kinda sounds like a goose sound like gasping it can be an under developed trachea. My lo had itand they grow out of it

Yea the first pediatrician did not even acknowledge it but a bg momma told me about it. My second pediatrician explained. Said it was normal. My lo grew out of it about 6 months. It really sounded bad while eating or right before sleep. It scared the crap out of me.

Yeah like right now he's eating and he sounds like some kinda of squeek toy! He never appears to be in pain so I will just hope it's something that goes away but I'm going to ask my pedi about this. Thanks for the info

No problem
