labor pains?

hey ladies =). I just needed to get some information together so I can figure out what the hell is going on with my body. . . for the past few days I have been having irregular contractions (NOT braxton hicks). The contractions don't last very long but it happens quite a few times throughout the day (sometimes 2 to 3 times in the hour). . . I have also been having braxton hicks as well throughout the day (though not as frequent as the real contractions) so I am really confusedabout what is going on. I don't want to run to L&D when it isn't time. Also, I have been having tremendous back pain for the past two days. Yesterday I could barely function without holding on a wall just to get to and from to the bathroom. I feel extreme pressure in my hoohaa and I hurt from the tip of my toes to my hair folicles. AND I CAN'T SEEM TO GET OFF THE DAMN TOILET!   . Could this be labor coming up ???? I would appriciate some info on how you ladies felt before you went into labor

your not due till july 5th you should probably call your doctor.

I have no idea... but I just wanted to ask you a question so I will know for future reference. How do u know the difference between BH and real contractions, because I don't think I've had any BH yet... just wanna know the difference in feeling so I'll be aware

If I were you I would call your doctor. It wont hurt to get checked out. I don't like to run to L&D either but I'm not due until August and I've been on L&D twice already, once with BH and just the other night with preterm labor. They gave me IV fluids thinking I was dehydrated and it would stop my contractions, but it did not so I got a shot of brethine and a steriod shot to advance the little man's lungs. So far so good. I wouldn't take any risks, that's what they are there for!

When I get braxton hicks contractions it feels like a menstral cramp. . . a little more severe but the location is all the same (lower abdomen) and it doesn't last very long. When I started getting real contractions it started in my lower abdomen and reached up to the top of my belly and my whole entire back, the pain is also longer than braxton hicks. Also with my real contractions my tummy gets super hard and looks like a basketball

With my first son i never had bh but real contractions hurt not always really painful but unconfortable, and this time i have been feeling like tighting not painful at all i think thay are bh.. dont know if that helps. lol

sounds like back labor, I don't have experience myself with it but I've heard and read about it a lot. I would just call the doctor to make sure though, it couldn't hurt. Good luck momma!!

I hear you on that. I'll probably give her a call tomorrow to see what she thinks. The thing that sucks is that it's so unpredictable because ithappens, and than it stops, and then it happens, and then it stops. It's driving me nuts. It started to get bad yesterday so I'm not going to wait to call. I'm 35 weeks and 1 day as of right now and I just want to make it to 37 weeks!

Damn, I was praying it wasn't back labor =(. My best friend had back labor and she said thats what it sounds like too. I heard that it's the worse. Just my luck... But thank you for luck =)))

you should call an on call doc tonight if your in preterm labor they could stop it but by tomorrow you may have a baby.. lol but really your 35 weeks and they always give you the 2 week window so you may not be that early. but your doctor might want to check you out tonight.

I also have a question?????? Lately I've been having these sharp pains frequently in in my lower adomen and around 2 my back. Its been hurting and the pain will come and go throught the day??? Is these Braxton Hicks?

I don't think it sounds like they're braxton hicks. They feel more like a pressure when the uterus, or part of the uterus tightens and expands. they're not really painful. I had something that sounded similar to what you're describing a while ago and I was told it was my uterus stretching. It doesn't sound like anything you should be worried about, but if you are it can't hurt to check it out with your doctor.

I am due a day after you and we have the same issues. I actually went into L and D Friday night because I was in pain. They hooked me up to the straps and told me (after monitoring me for an hour or so) that those were contractions. I cant tell the difference between BH and real ones either (more like I dont know what to look for) but I can say that for me the ones the hospital said were real contractions felt like my birth canal opening and pressure for a couple seconds...the menstrual cramping feeling is the BH trhey said.

Another tip - the nurses told me to lay off of sex because sex can cause contractions. It's too early for my little guy to come -they wont deliver him at my hospital until37-38 weeks....they'd send me to a different one for a preemie.
