Child Support!?

My SO has been driving me crazy with the subject of child support. I am 17 and he wants to collect my baby bonus instead of my dad since we are having a real struggle with money right now and i have been what he calls his "dependant" for months! I don't think he can collect it, I think he needs to adopt me and be my guardian not just my caregiver.. Does anyone have experience in this depeartment please help me out!! Also he seems to think we will get like 400 dollors for our lil man when he is born I dont think its near that much, but I figured someone one here would know. What have all you BG mama's gotten for baby bonus and all that. He is really stressing me out, I need some help ASAP! Thanks mommas!! xoxo

Um as soon as you had a child your baby bonus was supposed to stop coming altogether. Do they know you have a kid? Also if you do not live with your dad, he should not be getting baby bonus for you anymore, anyways

What is a "baby bonus"?

Are you talking about taxes? Your dad has no claim to your tax money, once you get pregnant you aren't his dependent anymore. And you aren't due until January. You can't claim your child until taxes for 2013, which you file in 2014.

Canadians literally get money when they have a child. It's called a Baby Bonus.

If you go on to the service Canada website they have a rough calculator on there if you know your incomes and what not. They also a a family bonus if your combined income is under like 25,000. At least in BC.

Its child tax benefits (baby bonus) and you should no longer be getting it if you have a child yourself or do not live at home anymore.

Its frauding the Government and your dad will have to pay it all back if they find out.

Why is it hard?

Standard child tax is 390.00 a month plus the extra for a child under 6, so it becomes 490.00 on the 2oth of the month (every month) if you make less then 30,000 a year, if over that set amount you get less child tax a month.

But this is the standard amount, you dont need a calculator to see what you will get, since everyone who makes under that amount gets the same.
